A first year point of view on plant sale:

Hi everyone,

I'm Katie Pearl, and I stepped into the role of Event Coordinator at White Barn Farm last year. It’s been an incredibly rewarding journey so far. After working in luxury events in Charleston, SC, I was ready to slow down and reconnect with the things that matter most to me — clean food, good people, and a strong sense of community. White Barn Farm has been the perfect place to bring all of that together.

As we prepare for the 17th Annual Plant Sale, I’ve been lucky to witness the entire process unfold — from ordering seeds and organizing trays to the meticulous planting of thousands of seeds. What struck me most is how each one is treated with such care and intention. Every seed is planted by hand, watered daily, and nurtured by our dedicated greenhouse team. It’s a powerful reminder of the deep connection we have with the plants we grow — they rely on us to thrive, just as we rely on them for nourishment. That mutual relationship is humbling and inspiring.

Watching the seeds sprout and grow has even motivated me to start my own garden. Now, watering my plants is a cherished part of my daily routine — and there’s nothing more satisfying than using something I’ve grown in my own cooking.

I invite you to take a moment and reflect on what fresh food, self-sufficiency, and your relationship with plants mean to you. Who knows — maybe you’ll be inspired to start your own garden, too.
