Job Description:
This position will span the growing season from seed to harvest and is ideal for someone who is dedicated to growing food, is interested in farming as a possible career, and would ideally like to stay at the farm for multiple seasons. We are seeking a motivated individual with a strong work ethic and exceptional attention to detail. With this position, you will gain experience and knowledge of all three sales channels of the farm: CSA, retail sales, and wholesale. As a part of the field crew, you will be engaged in various aspects of farm operations including:
greenhouse work (seeding and potting up)
field preparation and planting (including bed making and pruning)
weed management (including cultivating, mulching, and light tractor work)
irrigation management
harvesting systems and practices
wash station protocol (washing, sorting, and packing produce).
Qualifications/Requirements:
1 or 2 years of experience preferred, but not absolutely necessary for the right candidate
Able to lift 50lbs using proper body mechanics.
Capable of standing for long periods of time, and performing tasks in various weather conditions.
Flexible and easily adaptable to variable tasks that extend to other aspects of the farm.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Thrives on efficiency and productivity.
Fast learner with the ability to quickly pick up new techniques.
Punctuality and preparedness, including proper attire, footwear, and essentials like a water bottle and sunblock.
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
Ability to work well alone or in a group.
Positive attitude and composure under pressure.
Able and comfortable to communicate your needs.
Schedule:
Position April 1st-December 23rd, 2024:
Monthly breakdown:
April 1 - April 30th, 30-40 hours/week
May 1 - October 31st, 40 hours/week
November 1-December 23rd, 20-30 hrs/week
Salary/Benefits:
$17-$18/hour (depending on experience)
