Soil Science w/Ms. Lynn - AM

We will discuss types of soil, the different aspects of soil, how certain plants thrive or fail depending on the type of soil, The pros and cons of different farming methods and see some examples of this - aquaponics, hydroponics. We will discuss the plant structures, examples of root structures. We will enlarge our plant vocabulary and of course play Plant Smash. We will dig soil. Move soil and get dirty while having fun! We will discuss bugs in the soil, animals that love soil and discuss oh so many uses for soil. We will test the health of soil by examining what we can see it consists of and discuss how some scientists can evaluate the fertility of soil by which weeds grow there.
