Here at White Barn Farm we are seeking full time shopkeepers to staff our Farmstand. This is a full time, year-round position.

 

Schedule:
  • Store coverage is needed Tuesday - Saturday 9am - 6pm.

  • Shifts are usually 8 hours between the times of 8am  – 7pm.  For the right candidate these shifts could be modified to fit availability.

  • One weekend shift is required.

  • The exact schedule for the season will be arranged with each shopkeeper. Hours will vary between 32 and 40 hours depending on the sales volume of the farmstand.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere in the farm stand.

  • Maintain public safety protocols as deemed necessary.

  • Full time farmstand staff will be covering the opening or closing shift for the day.

  • Be a team leader - be able to manage other staff members in the functions of the farmstand.

  • Communicate directly with the farmers and management staff.

  • Answer customer questions about produce and the farm’s growing practices.

  • Set up and maintain an attractive produce display throughout the day. Bagging, bunching, and sorting produce, and restocking as necessary.

  • Keep the Farmstand, coolers and storage shed organized and clean.

  • Calculate and make change for customer purchases using our point of sale system. Accept SNAP/EBT payments. 

  • Occasionally you will be asked to add new items to the screen using the “backoffice” part of the program.

  • Keep track of product inventory and notify farm managers if anything is running low.

  • Harvest small items as needed such as herbs or cherry tomatoes.

  • Break down farm stand produce display at the end of the day. Closing responsibilities include carrying bins of produce back to the cooler, cleaning the farm stand and closing the barn and Farmstand for the evening.

 

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience with customer service.

  • Familiarity cooking with fresh, seasonal produce.

  • Positive attitude, good sense of humor and strong work ethic.

  • An eye for color, attractive, abundant displays, and high quality standards will help

  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs over uneven ground.

  • Organized, responsible, punctual and attentive to detail.

 

Compensation
  • Starting wage will be between $17 - $18.25, depending on experience. 

  • One free class at the Farm, if in person classes resume.

  • Monthly Gift Card to purchase White Barn Produce and Provisions, amount will depend on number of hours scheduled.
