Kitchen Herb Planter Workshop $55

Saturday, June 2, 2018 - 10am to 2pm

Who doesn’t love to have fresh local herbs at their culinary finger tips? In this workshop, we will be creating a useful, fragrant, and beautiful planter for your herb-snipping pleasure. You are encouraged to bring a container from home, and will be charged according to the number of extra plants or potting soil required for your project. Registration includes one bag of organic VT Compost Potting Soil, two perennial herbs in 4” pots, and three annuals in 4” pots (herbs or edible flowers, etc).

Laurene and Farmer Christy will be guiding you through the planting process and advising you on care and maintenance. In the process of selecting your herbs, you will be taking an informal tour of White Barn Farm’s greenhouse, grounds, and gardens. WBF provides coffee, hot tea, an herbal tisane, and a little herbal based something for nibbling. We would not turn away other brunch-y snacks from your home kitchen!! But no pressure! It should be a very enjoyable morning at the greenhouse!

Your planters will be happiest in full sun outdoors (right outside the kitchen door?) The perennials can be transplanted into the ground before winter for years of herbal enjoyment to come! These make great gifts (and Father’s Day is June 17th. Hint Hint!), so feel free to make additional planters so you can keep one for yourself!

White Barn Farm workshops are led by Christy’s long-time friend and professional florist, Laurene Hulbig. Laurene grew up fashioning bouquets made with flowers from her backyard. Over the years, she honed her craft and fell in love with working amongst the sunshine, rich smells and beauty of the greenhouse. After building an extensive portfolio of wedding floral projects while working for other florists, she parlayed her experience and established her own floral business. Laurene Hulbig Floral Design brings local flowers to upscale weddings using sustainable practices. For inquiries, please visit: www.laurenehulbig.com

P.S. Ocean State Job Lot has a really great selection of containers if you do not have something in mind already! Briggs, Lowe’s, Home Depot probably have lots of choices, too. We will have some of our containers on hand. Please let us know if you would like us to reserve one for you.
