Medfield Farmer's Market Share, Week #5

Posted 7/9/2018 4:04pm by Christy and Chris Kantlehner.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Hope you all had a great holiday last week. I spent some time with my extended family on a lake. Great way to survive the heat! Happy to be home this week and back to feeding just my family! We are looking forward to a bountiful share this week!

Here's what's in it:

  • 1 Bunch of Scallions
  • 1 Head of Lettuce
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 1 Quart of Potatoes
  • Choice of one: Frisée, Escarole, Dandelion Greens or Raddicio
  • Choice of Three: Beets, Carrots, Fresh Onions, Radish, Kale, Bag of Turnips, Head of Cabbage (any variety)

I've been excited about the Beets, they are so bright! They are great roasted (on the grill-too hot for the oven!) and added to a salad with bitter greens (Radiccio anyone?) and Narragansett Mozzarella. Or maybe I'll make Roasted Beet Dip, great for dipping bread or crackers. And since I'm just not turning on my oven, I think I'll be adding grilled onions to just about everything. My kids have been asking me to make my home made onion dip - just grilled Fresh Onions to some whole milk yogurt or sour cream.

We have ordered some extra bread from Iggy's Bread of the World in Cambridge, MA that we will be bringing with us to sell along with a selection of cheeses. Chris is planning to bring corn tortillas from Mi Tierra located in western Mass and we'll have some of our cheese! He will have a selection of local cheeses for you to pick from.

Picking up is simple, bring your bags and make your choices. We are there to help you identify what you are looking for. This season, Farmers Chris and Christy would like you to have as much choice as they can reasonably work into the Share. Because we are offering so many things to choose from, we cannot always guarantee that your first choice will be available every week. We hope that encourages you to try something new! We can guarantee freshly picked, locally grown, delicious vegetables and we are sure you will be happy with the variety over the course of the Summer Share season

With that in mind, if you do not want to pack your own share, there is another option. For $5 a week you can have Farmer's Choice! We will make a selection for you and pack it in the cooler waiting for you to come and pick up the share. If you are interested in that, please respond to this email.

Pick up is every Thursday 2 - 6, during the Medfield Farmer's Market.

See you at the Market!
