If you need some Compost or Potting Soil

Posted 4/11/2017 11:20am by christy kantlehner.

Sun! Sunny Sunshine! Doesn't this weather make you want to hop into a bright red convertible, put the top down, and zoom around town singing out loud, even at stoplights!? I dare you to be in a bad mood today!

Suddenly it is finally spring and I am sure lots of you are being lured to the blooming plants at Briggs, Tropical tree, even Lowe's! For all you springtime go-getters buying pansies - give us a jingle if you would like to feed your soil or have a quality potting mix to put into your planters.

We are at the farm Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm. Make an appointment to come grab some bagged soil or compost by texting Christy 774-210-0359. I do have to water on Saturdays and Sundays too, so if weekdays don't work for you, we may be able to make a time on the weekend.

We are carrying Vermont Compost products this year

and their quality is fantastic!

  • Organic Compost - 20 Qt. bag $10 - the perfect amendment for improving soil texture and adding some food for soil biology, which will eventually feed your plants.

"Premium compost comprised of carefully sourced, high-quality ingredients: a fully mature composted blend of bovine, equine, and avian manures, hardwood bark, late cut hay, spoiled silage, animal bedding, food residuals. We blend biodynamic preparations and mature compost to inspire bacterial and fungal activity. Sphagnum peat moss is added for moisture management. Free of live weed seed, never any sewer sludge. Manure Compost is approved for use on certified organic farms and forms the base of all Vermont Compost soil mixes."

  • Compost based Potting Soil "Fort Vee" 6 Qt. bag: $10 or 20 Qt bag: $20

"Developed for organic growers who want a compost-based germination and growing mix. Designed for soil blocks, trays, and pots."

  • or try a little bag of the deluxe Compost Plus $10 to revitalize an existing potted plant or add to the planting hole with your plants.

"A premium supplement designed to rejuvenate "tired" soil in containers or garden beds. It provides a blend of minerals and organic matter to improve the structure and fertility of existing growing media when immediate fertility is needed. This mix will not burn roots. Compost Plus is approved for use on certified organic farms."

  • We also have the fabulous fish juice from Neptune's Harvest straight outta Gloucester! This liquid fertilizer can easily take the place of the blue juice.
available in concentrated, stable, not-too-stinky form -
Fish & Seaweed Blend:
pints $11.69
quarts $17.79

you just dilute it in a watering can according to instructions and feed your plants (We do the seedlings in the greenhouse every 7 to 10 days). The pH changes once you dilute it, so use it all up the day you make it, then rinse your watering can with clean water, taking extra attention with the spout so the fish gunk doesn't clog your can!

That's all for now folks! Happy Gardening!
